The United States has had 172,017 job losses for the month of February 2025 surging +41,300% due to government job cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency. There has been a cut of 221,812 jobs for the year 2025, which marks the highest YTD totals since 2009, during the Great Financial Crisis. We may very well be witnessing the largest federal layoff in United States history. These are pandemic level cuts in jobs.
While at the same time, during the month of February 2025, we only saw an increase of 77,000 jobs as measured by ADP. This was a big miss, with almost double the amount of jobs being expected during this month. This could prompt the Federal Reserve to cut rates, which might be what the Trump Administration is trying to achieve, while risking economic security for the goal.
