A Journalist on The Atlantic Was Invited Into a Signal Chat About Houthi War Plans
The Trump Administration recently held high level talks about a military bombing operation against the Houthi rebels in Yemen and mistakenly invited a journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg, of The Atlantic.

JD Vance (vice president), Marco Rubio (Secretary of State), Michael Waltz (national security adviser), John Ratcliffe, Pete Hegseth (Secretary of Defense), and Jeff Goldberg (The Altantic journalist) were part of a group chat on Signal to coordinate a bombing operation on the Houthi rebels. Mike Waltz allegedly created the list of people on Signal that were invited into the chat. Jeff Goldberg's presence on the list was not known until Mr. Goldberg reached out for comments before he wrote a story on it for The Atlantic. MSNBC interviewed General McCaffrey and asked if he believed that there should be consequences, and he believes there should be an investigation because all of those on the call knew that they were using an unsecured device, possibly in an unsecured location, to conduct secure discussions about a targeted strike against the Houthis.
The uniformed men and women of the armed services were placed in harms way due to communicating war plans on Signal with a journalist invited to the chat. There should absolutely be an investigation into what happened and why Jeffrey Goldberg was added to the list of people to discuss war plans. But, with Republicans united behind President Trump with a stranglehold on power in each branch of government, will an investigation be conducted or even permitted? Some of those involved in this call were critical of Hillary Clinton for her private email server when she was caught handling classified information on a home server outside of a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), which exists for the sole purpose of handling classified information such as secure military operations.
